          PROJECT ON NON PROFIT SECTOR

The Project on Non Profit Sector at the University of Mysore was a multi activity project in the area of non-profit and philanthropy. The Ford Foundation funded the project, which facilitated the researchers especially from South India , to pursue research in the area of Philanthropy. Started in August 2000, this project has become instrumental in initiating series of studies taken up by the members of Third Sector Research Group.

THE PROJECT ON NON PROFIT SECTOR was a two-phased activity. The first part of the activity included conducting of series of studies. There were two major studies and 16 minor studies undertaken, including status papers on Third Sector Organizations (TSO) in three southern states of India . The second part of the activity was the establishment of the Research Resource Centre for Third Sector. The primary objective of this centre is to provide a centralized facility for researchers. This centre includes a specialized library, which houses books, journals, reports and CDs related to the research areas in Third Sector. It also has Browsing facility and other physical infrastructure needed for researchers. The centre also has the facility of database of Bibliographical details and the TSOs in India .
